Stage I manifolds are designed to take advantage of the flow
numbers associated with most "out of the box" cylinder heads.
They offer better fuel distribution (especially on nitrous applications)
because of the balanced runners. Only the lower manifold is
Stage II
Stage II manifolds are designed for most ported heads and the
higher flowing "out of the box" heads (Canfield, Victor Jr, Track
I, etc). The lower is fully ported and balanced with the upper
being blended to the lower and matched to your throttle body size.
Great for hot naturally aspirated or nitrous and supercharged
applications.
Stage III
Street/Strip and Competition! This is the ultimate cast intake
with a fully ported lower and a cut, ported and welded upper (on
some applications). The upper has shortened runners and added
plenum volume customized to the specific application. You will
find these manifolds on many top NMRA and Fun Ford Renegade cars.
Note: As a general rule your manifold should flow 10-20% more than your cylinder head at the maximum lift of your camshaft. |
